What does a vet nurse do?

Veterinary nurses assist in the diagnosis and treatment of animal diseases, illnesses and injuries. They are responsible for the welfare of the animals who stay at the clinic or surgery, and usually feed, water, clean and exercise them. They will also administer drugs, conduct tests, check stock and order drugs and other veterinary supplies, and undertake other administrative and reception duties.

Course Tutor: Katie Fasher

Katie studied the Bachelor of Veterinary Science at university, covering all aspects of animal knowledge from basic animal care, to surgery and training ranging from farm animals to exotic pets. She has had experience in veterinary clinics of all types and has volunteered with a range of animal charities including de-sexing stray dogs in Samoa.

Katie’s pride and joy are her two dogs Oggy and Merlin. She enjoys oil-painting, playing the piano, sewing clothes, reading and playing sports. Katie finds her work at The Career Academy rewarding and enjoys giving feedback and supporting students. Katie enjoys learning from the students as the students learn for themselves.

What our students say

★★★★★ "I think the course is awesome and tutor is amazing. I love how easy the website is to use and being able to pay the course off week to week especially with being a solo mum. And with working 10.5 hours a week it’s hard to afford a payout for a course too, so glad I came across career academy." - Corinna Keogan

★★★★★ "I found the online training easier than i thought it would be, Tutors were a great help and the feedback received for each assignment was very quick. I am looking to complete another course soon and will be going through the Career Academy. I found having the written course was a great way to write notes on and refer to during an assignment and for reference later on. I am now volunteering at a local Rescue shelter. Sarah Kadwell
