The Career Academy has developed a series of online courses for pet owners who want to learn how to groom and look after their pet, or to understand animal behaviour and how to train them. You can even take the opportunity to use your new skills and start a pet care or dog grooming business or advance your career in the industry. Our Dog Grooming course has been developed by National Dog Groomers Association of New Zealand Master Groomer, Angela Anderson.
Intro to Pet Care
Learn to care for a variety of pets!
Designed to give a comprehensive understanding of the needs of pets, students will be adequately prepared to care for their own pets, or work with animals in refuges, charitable centres and pet stores. From cats and dogs, to fish and reptiles, this short introductory course is surprisingly comprehensive.
Understand the behaviour of your cat.
Our online course will guide you through different behavioural patterns your cat may exhibit, from instinctive behaviour, to how they might think and react to certain situations.

Angela Anderson has been grooming since 2000. She runs the prestigious Angels Grooming Parlour and Angels Grooming Academy where she holds practical dog grooming training for students. As well as being highly sort after for seminars, judging and consultancy, Angela is also the mentor and Franchisor for Jims Dog Wash. Tutor – Karen Moores
Karen has always been an animal lover but wasn’t always a veterinary nurse. Her career began in banking, slid into IT in the banking sector and then shifted into general management in not-for-profits. However, when she felt she needed to make a change, Karen chose a subject close to her heart. She gained most of her hands-on skills as a wildlife veterinary nurse in a sanctuary, as well as the more usual small animal work in a local clinic. She holds a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing and a Graduate Certificate in Education. Learn more about our tutors.
